Birdcages

When I first began looking for a big bird cage for my two parakeets, I wasn’t sure how big it should be or whether Charlie and Sweetie really needed a bigger cage.  So I started to ask friends in a chat room about what they thought.  One of them suggested that I look for “flight bird cages”.  I really didn’t know what that was, but he told me that it was for my birds so that they could actually fly in the cage.  That’s why it is called that.Crazy me, but how was I to guess!  When I looked online, I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted right away.  So I decided to dedicate a site just to flight bird cages.

I have a lot of information about why birds really should be able to fly inside of a cage, rather than all the time just out of their cage in the house.  my birds have loved their new cage and really do seem much happier.  Some of my points of why this type of cage is good for them are below.

Why I think Flight Bird Cages are necessary for birds:

My birds are much happier when they can fly around in their cage. The large cage lets them be very healthy since they can do their flying anytime they get the urge to.  It keeps their little bodies strong!

They are much safer in their cage if there are other pets in your home, such as a cat or dog.  Especially so when you can not be home with them all the time, they can still fly about in their cage.  One word of advice that I read somewhere, so use your own idea on this, don’t put your birds in a round cage because it doesn’t give them any points of reference and they will be confused.  That’s why a lot of bird cages probably are hexagon or at least have corners.

The right bird houses are perfect for breeding birds. It was an eye opener for me to acknowlege Charlie and Sweeties were mating after being able to fly around in the cage.  So, if you have had no success with breeding your birds, the reason might be because their cage is too small.Your pet bird needs to be flying in order for them to mate!

It makes your birds feel free.  When it is warm outside, I make sure that their cage is outdoors once in a while.  I think when they whistle at the people that go by is a very funny and cute thing.  The people seem to get a laugh out of it, and my neighbors love it.

You can clean the cage easier because of the room you have in it.  I found that the easier cages are to clean, they get changed and cleaned a lot more often.  Even my son doesn’t mind cleaning it, and it takes less time than it used to with the smaller cage.

The flight bird cage I got for my birds is on a pedestal, so they are at eye level with us.  They love being able to be right there with us and talk to us a lot more often.  That way they can join the family more often and still be very safe. The birds were so used to seeing us when they were in the small cage that was carted around wherever we were.  Even with this larger cage for them, it still makes it so manageable.  Don’t forget, birds like to be part of the family too.

Just so you’ll know the size that I got for Charlie and Sweetie, remember they are parakeets.  Their cage is 32” width by 22” depth. At the 59 inch mark, it is a good elevation.  The flight cages are a bit more expensive than just the small little bird cages that you probably had when you first got your birds.  But believe me, Charlie and Sweetie are such happy, healthy and breeding birds now that they have their new house.  I hope you will come back often, as I am going to be adding more material to this website. While you are still here, if you would like to leave a message about some of your tricks, please do so.  Again, thanks for stopping by and hope to see you again.

Parrot Bird Cages – Make the Appropriate Selection

Birds  in general can be really fun and easily maintained pets, but they aren’t always quite so simple as you might think. There is a wide variety of birds that you can choose from, but one of the most popular and frequently purchased birds is the parrot.Parrots are truly dazzling with their amazing colors, and they can truly be an awesome addition to any family. When you go to get one of these birds, it really helps to know how to take proper care of them. One big part of that care is knowing that you have gotten your bird the right parrot bird cages, and that you know how to keep it clean and hospitable. Lots of times you see Pirates that have a parrot on his shoulder, but this isn’t really an option for most people.

You can make a huge difference in a parrots  comfort level and happiness by getting it to appropriate birdcage. If you have ever had fish, you know that they need a certain amount of space per fish or they are not going to thrive, and may even die very easily. You can say the same thing for birds. When you choose among parrot bird cages, you have to know that they have enough space to keep them happy and healthy. Your bird isn’t going to do very well if it doesn’t have the appropriate space.

Parrot bird cages are a rather expensive item, so you need to make sure that you talk to somebody who is knowledgeable in the store or website that can tell you exactly what you need for your bird. If the person with which you are speaking does not seem to understand what you are asking, you need to go somewhere else. Some people out there really care about the health of your pet but other people just simply want to make a sale. Having the most expensive and most extravagant birdcage isn’t always a necessity, but you do need to have the best birdcage that is suitable to your birds needs.

When you finally find the right cage for your parrot, you then need to think about some different things in your house. If you have other pets, like cats or even dogs, then you obviously have some issues you need to think about other than the size of your cage. You will need a cage that is out of the reach of the ground, so your other pets aren’t able to get to it.This can be a difficult task, but there are are some different ways in which you can get around all of that. You might consider hanging your birdcage from the ceiling. You don’t want to submit your bird to a constant state of stress because of other pets.

You must remember to always keep up on the cleanliness and sanitation of your parrot’s birdcage. It doesn’t really matter which curios you choose to use as a liner, or how meticulously clean your bird seems to me, you are responsible for keeping it nice. This doesn’t only keep your bird healthy, but it helps to keep your home smelling nice as well. The smell from unkempt parrot bird cages can be overwhelming if they are not cleaned as they should be. You probably want to think about cleaning the cage at least once a day, and possibly even twice, so the environment can be beneficial for all involved.

Purchasing the right Bird Aviary

A bird aviary is the most important piece of equipment you’ll need to purchase for your new bird. The right aviary will assist in keeping your bird healthy and safe. There are a lot of bird aviaries on the market, which can make it difficult for the the new bird keeper.. How do you choose the right one?

Firstly, make a point to research about the the type of bird you wish to keep. When housing a parakeet, cockatiel or any other long tailed species, you will need to have enough room for your bird to exercise. Ideally, the bird aviary will be adequately long enough so the bird can fly from one side to the other. Any birds that have a heavyset body, such as a lovebird or a Senegal parrot, gets a good deal of exercise by climbing around in the aviary. This type of bird would do well in an aviary that is taller than it is wide.

You should then consider the size of the aviary. Generally it is a good idea to buy the largest aviary you can pay for your bird, a newly weaned handfed baby bird may feel lost and terrified in a large aviary. Some younger birds may have trouble finding their food and water bowls. If it is affordable to do so, then buying a smaller bird aviary for your baby birds’s first few months is a good idea and then change to a bigger aviary when it is older.

Another thing to take into account is the spacing between the bars of your bird aviary. A great looking bird aviary is not very effective if your bird can fit through the bars! If you are thinking of using wire mesh in your aviary then you should compare the size of the hole in the mesh with the size of your bird’s head prior to making your choice. A bird aviary built with one inch mesh is just the right size for a cockatiel to stick a head through. When cockatiels bring their heads back through the bars, they have been known to bend into a ‘U’ shape and put their heads into a different hole.

When you have decided on the aviary size and bar spacing, you should then consider other facets of bird aviary design. Seeing the cage tray. When you remove it to clean it, is there a grate in the aviary to prevent the bird from escaping? Is the tray deep enoough to hold the mess your bird makes? Even if the aviary has a deep tray, you still may find that your bird scatters a lot of seed hulls and feathers on the floor if there’s no cage apron. You can put a plastic apron base on your aviary or have a built in metal apron which is a good option.

Finally, do not forget to have a look at the aviary cups. Ideally it would be a good idea to enter the aviary to get to the cups without having to reach through the main door. If you are buying a bird aviary for a larger bird, the cups should actually bolt to the aviary unless you want to spend every morning and afternoon for the next 50 years reaching for cups that your bird has flung onto the bottom of the bird aviary

If you a replacing a bird aviary for an older parrot type bird, some owners have told me it’s crucial to get a bird cage of the same colour. They believe that a bird that is comfortable with a white painted aviary will not be just as comfortable in a metal cloured one.

Back to Basics, Bird Aviaries

People who choose to keep birds in the home will need suitable housing for them. This entails acquiring an aviary in proportion to the size and type of parrot as it will greatly impact on the lifetime of the bird.
It is advisable to get one that’s very large. The birds appreciate space to climb, stretch and play so ensure there is enough space for him to do that.
All bird aviaries need horizontal bars. To give the bird more hold inside the aviary. Be sure to check the spaces between the bars so the bird does not injure itself.
Although there are some inexpensive aviaries that can be found in the market, the purchaser must not prchase a bird aviary based on this criteria alone. The material used in constructing the bird aviary may not be of good quality and may also pose as a danger for the parrot. I
Normal bird aviaries have doors and latches. When choosing your aviary avoid these as they could injure your bird. Detachable ones are best as they are the safest.
Most animals leave unwanted waste. The perfect parrot aviary should have a pull out try in the bottom so the owner can just take this off and clean it before putting it back inside. This is preferrable to going inside to clean the bird aviary of droppings, which will take a long time to clean.
Thebird aviary should have a specified area where the bowl will be placed. Some manufacturers sell them with plates inside while others have to be bought separately. This should also be removable because this needs to be cleaned twice a day before and after feeding.
The perch where the parrot sits must be near where the food is placed as this will make it easy for the bird to go to when it is time for feeding.
Having a pet big or small is an big responsibility. Be sure to have a safe and spacious bird aviary that will last.
