African Grey
These parrots are medium sized and are usually of a greyish colour. Not always are they grey all over, you will see red on some also. For speaking you can't get better than this type of parrot. They have amazing voval dexterity and will speak to you and imitate sounds. It can not be guaranteed that a Grey will ever speak. Grey's have been known who never talked and did not even show signs of talking altogether. They can be very loud and scream a lot so need much attention. Once you make friends, the bird will be the most loyal pet you could ever hope for.
Conure
These parrots are small sized and have very big tails attached to their bodies. They come in a variety of colours and are intelligent. They love to fool around, clown others and play endlessly. They are also good at learning tricks and taking up training effectively. Teaching them to speak needs a lot of care and attention. The down side of having a prrot like this is that you need to spend a large amount of time with them, its best for people who stay home a lot.
This is due to the fact that they need many hours of training every day to instill proper behavioir. You need to train these birds early in order to stop them screeching a lot.
Macaw
These parrots have been known to survive for about more than fifty years and knowing this you should be ready for a long relation with your bird. Of all the parrots, this is a large one so get it a big house. Make parrot comfortable by getting the right cage. This parrot does not like to be locked up all day so let it out of its cage as often as possible.
It has a very strong beak and a tendency to bite out everything possible. Therefore you have to be careful they don't destroy your furniture. Being such an intelligent bird you need to keep its mind active so get it some parrot toys.
