Tropical Aquariums Can Be Really Beautiful

My daughter has asked if she can get an aquarium for her room. She doesn’t want a simple one that might contain a gold fish or two, she wants to go out and look at the tropical aquariums in the stores to pick something out. She didn’t exactly ask in those terms, but she informed me many times that she wanted a fish just like Nemo. If a clown fish comes from the ocean, it must be a salt water fish, though I’m not sure if they are tropical or not.

At any rate, tropical aquariums need to be able to handle salt water. The aquarium itself might not have to be much different, but I do know the pumps and heaters might have to be able to deal with all of the salt in the water without breaking down all of the time. Tropical aquariums may also have other special needs that you may not have to worry about if you had a freshwater tank. You may have to talk to someone at the pet store in order to figure it out. It might be more trouble than you are willing to go through.

Tropical aquariums can be quite beautiful, and perhaps that is part of the reason my daughter wants one. The fish are striking, and they come in all sizes. You can get a bigger variety with tropical aquariums. If you go into a store that sells tropical or saltwater fish, you will see what I mean. Make sure you go to a place that is known for quality though, as some places just don’t care enough, and your fish may die within days of you bringing them home. In many cases, when this happens you cannot get your money back, and these fish can cost quite a bit of money.

I’m not sure if I’ll have to look at tropical aquariums or not, as my daughter keeps changing her mind about what she wants. Yesterday it was Nemo, and today she wants a baby Koala. I know I can’t get her a koala, but I don’t want to get her something she’ll lose interest in too quickly. It’s not entirely up to her though. The more she talks about tropical aquariums, the more I think I would like to have one myself. I think my husband might even get on board with that one. Now I just have to figure out how to keep my cats out of it, and we’ll be golden.
